We had a great Halloween this year. Each year it gets more fun. I think that this was the first year that Evie remembered exactly what was involved in the holiday (mainly trick-or-treating). Evie was so excited to be a ballerina this year. She told me months ago that she had decided to be a ballerina and she stuck to it. Yesterday we were at the grocery store and she said to me "Mom, next year for Halloween I'm going to be something different, not a ballerina." So she is already thinking about what to do for next year. I guess it is never to early to plan! She is so funny.
This is the first year that I have made costumes. Not that I really had to do that much with making the tutus, but it was really fun to do. I made them while I was at my parents house a couple weeks ago. My mom had a fun time 'making fun' of me because I was enjoying making them so much. But all I could keep thinking was that I am exactly like her!
We had a busy Halloween week. Wednesday night was our trunk-or-treat at church. Evie had a great time playing all the games and what surprised me was how much she loved the haunted house that they did. She did it 3 times. Ron was able to go with us and took her to the cars for the candy. He said that she was so sweet. She would say trick-or-treat at every car and take only one piece of candy when they let her pick. If they told her she could take more she would hesitate for a bit then take just one more piece and say thank-you. What a sweet girl we have. On the way home from the church Evie asked us "when we going to go to house to house to house" (trick-or-treating). She kept asking/talking about it the rest of the week. Ada was adorable in her witch (or as Evie called it, her ballerina witch outfit). She had no idea what the big deal was all about but she sure was cute. She was even able to get her first sucker! The funniest thing was that she totally kept on the witch hat. I didn't think she would because she never leaves in her hair bows, but she must have known how cute it was because at one point Ron told me that it was falling off and she reached up to fix it, so that it was sitting on her head correctly! What a little crack up she is!
Friday, Evie was able to wear her costume to school and they had a parade. See the previous post for a video of it. She had a great time. She was so excited that she got to wear her costume to school. It was the best day of school so far I think. After I left the parade I had to call Ron and my parents to tell them all how cute she was. When I was talking to my dad I said "she was made to be in a parade". She had such a great time. I see lots more parades in Evie's future! When I picked her up from school her teacher and the secretary that helps with car pool both told me how cute she was and how she had all of her posses down. So she must have been showing off her dancing skills.
Ron had to work Saturday night so he wasn't able to go trick-or-treating with us. So I got the girls dressed and we enjoyed trick-or-treating around the neighborhood with the other kids from our street. It really is the funniest thing to watch the kids run from house to house and up to the door so excited for that candy. After every door Evie would turn around and said "Mom, I got some candy." or some version of that. It was so funny. One time she turned around and said "I sure did get some candy." We were probably out for about 30 minutes when Evie came up to me and said "Okay mom, I'm ready to go home. I'm done!" Is she great or what. So we said good-bye to the other kids and head home to pass out candy. It was a fun night and enjoyed by everyone. Ada loved being out with all the kids and seeing all the costumes. I can't wait to see her running up to the doors with Evie next year. It was such a fun week and I'm so grateful that I am able to enjoy all these moments with my kids and family.
